Cuban actor and director Jorge Perugorría will receive the Gloria Achievement Award

Cuban actor and director Jorge Perugorría will receive the Gloria Achievement Award on April 19th during the 29th edition of the Chicago Latino Film Festival, reported EFE.

The festival’s executive director, Pepe Vargas, said that Perugorría “can be considered a classic of Latin American and Spanish contemporary cinema.”

Perugorría will participate in a special celebration for the 20th anniversary of the film “Strawberry and Chocolate”, he will also present one of his latest films as a director, “Amor crónico” (Cronic love).

GLORIA AWARD

The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago established the Gloria Lifetime Achievement Award in 1999 to recognize individuals and institutions that have significantly contributed to the development of the Latino community, both in Chicago and across the globe.

“Gloria represents a woman in a state of glory,” says Spanish artist Juan José Eguizábal, who created the Gloria. “Glory being the pinnacle of success and splendor, the highest recognition of excellence. Gloria represents the pureness of the moment.”
